Not really, it is still painful and still cannot walk on it properly. Drove down to Solihull on Saturday and have suffered for it since. Thanks for asking.

Sorry to read that Eric. Looks like it is a very slow healing process.

You seem to be coping admirably with this Eric.

I hope you get on the mend soon.

At least it does not hurt, it just swells up if I walk on it more than a little. Driving is possible, but again, the greater the distance the more problems it causes afterwards.
Good job we are not having a visitation in the garden this year, there are a lot of jobs which are not being done, lawn edging for one. The trouble is that the odd walk I have developed is damaging my back beyond belief and that is PAINFUL.

Just thought you might like to know that despite the 8 weeks of Comfrey poultice, the bones have not fused. Got to go back in 3 months, if they have still not fused then, then it is probably more surgery.

Thats bad news Eric. I really do sympathise with you.
Very best wishes for a better report in 3 months time. It really is a slow recovery.

You must be feeling really frustrated not being able to be at full throttle in the garden.

Why is it that, even though I was expecting it,  I am really depressed by this?

Best wishes for a happy outcome Eric.

The long drawn out healing process has taken you, and us, by surprise.  When you were expecting a speedier recovery, you've now had this set-back.  Cause enough for anyone to feel depressed.

We'll be thinking about you.

Laurie.

Another three months of limping around, then if it is not healed having to have the pins removed, the joint scraped and this time a plate and screws put in, Then another 6 weeks to see if it heals after that. Then 3 months walking carefully after that.
I feel at the moment that this has ruined our way of life.

Hello Eric,

I have been wondering how you are progressing. I am sure it has been very frustrating for you. I was reminded of you because I have had a little taste of it myself. Not nearly as bad as what you have had to put up with but it gave me a little taste of the frustration you must have felt.

Well, three weeks ago yesterday I caught the inside of my left leg on what I could call the shoulder of a garden fork which was sticking upright in the ground. I thought no more about it but three days later, when we were all packed to go on holiday in Cornwall, a blood blister appeared that grew and grew to an enormous size so quickly that, being a Sunday,  we went to A & E. in Wycombe Hospital. The upshot was that the holiday was cancelled, I had to sit or lie with my leg propped up for several days  Angry

We weren't worried for ourselves but we were very disappointed for Benji. It was his 21st birthday treat. He was fantastically mature and understanding, however, and he even volunteered to come home and look after me!

It was very painful to walk for about ten days but luckily I have Anthea's crutches from her hip operation. For several days I had to have it dressed every day. Now it is about three times a week. It is much less painful now and I feel I can now see light at the end of the tunnel. They say it will take a while to heal because new skin has to grow over what is now a large raw patch.

I am on Warfarin to thin my blood and the nurse says that is why it developed as it did. Never mind, it could have been a lot worse!

Sorry to go into all the gory detail!  Roll Eyes

Anyway, good luck with your foot. How is it now?

All the best

Eric

Sorry to hear that Eric, at least my toe has not caused cancelled holidays (We have never actually been on a holiday in 40 odd years). Sadly my toe is still not healing. I have been doing my best to ignore it and carry on as usual, but it sometimes catches me out and I have to stop for a while. Looks like I will have to go back in and have another op.
Hope you can get away another time.
