I had Forgotten
« on: March 22, 2006, 06:54:48 PM »
I HAD FORGOTTEN

I really had forgotten, how beautiful it was
To wander round the garden, and I tell you this because
This evening I took a stroll, and marvelled at the views
Of Mother Nature's wonders, I just had to share the news

It was bitter cold this evening, so I wore a coat and hat
And a pair of gloves to warm my hands,I couldn't forget that
A gin and tonic in my hand, the gloves kept out the cold
Of the ice that tinkled gently in the glass I had to hold

Springtime still seems far away, the frosts still linger on
It will be a week or two or more, til winter's finally gone
But still the sun was shining bright, to give the heart some cheer
And made me feel that very soon, the Spring would soon be here

Buds are still to open though the daffodils have come
And crocuses are still in bloom, no heat yet from the sun
It won't be long, I tell myself, in the fading evening light
And that's exactly what I did, as I wandered round tonight

I loved my little dander, as I moved back to the house
My mind began to wander as I rejoined my spouse
Soon we would be back again, in the garden, where it seems
Mother Nature's wonders can fulfil our greatest dreams

Well hello, welcome home from your travels, and how are y'doin!
Man its good to see you here, Billy. Its almost as bleak as the garden on a cold winters day!

Actually, I thought you HAD forgotten!
Is that poem your own work? It certainly applies to gardens in Ireland right now, and the wee G&T as you take a dander is a bit of a giveaway. Very good indeed!

I hope all those gorgeous Japanese maples survived the winter Billy. Any new ones this year yet?

For the benefit of our members, heres the link to Billy's web site.

I can tell you that his garden is absolutely brilliant. Ive been there and took 150 photos.

It was featured on TV in 2005, and Billy made up a DVD of the show, plus a little film by the "extras"
He kindly gave me a copy and permission to duplicate and distribute it to our members. So, folk, enjoy the web site and if you'd like to see the DVD, post your request here.

Have you heard of the famous Bushmills Irish whiskey? Billy (Whis4ey) lives not too far from the distillery.

What a lovely poem Billy.  Yes, do tell if it's your own work!  I usually put a poem at the end of my monthly update on my website, and I'd love to feature this, with credit to you of course, or whoever's work it is. Would that be OK?

All my own work :)
Sorry I missed this post.  It would certainly be fine to include it on your website if you wish :)
<<feeling quite chuffed now ...  this is the third request to allow it to be used LOL

Thanks Billy.  I've made a note of it and when I get the chance, I'll include it.  What credit would you like me to put?
