Still under guarantee which is void if the machine is opened by anyone else. Until it crashed we were ok with W7, a lot better in some ways than Vista but it does take some getting used to.
Will just have to wait until I can drive again.

Yes, I see the dilemma now Eric.  I never considered the manufacturers warranty aspect and the procedure involved.  :-[

Now that you've mentioned it, the same applies here.  If a new PC goes faulty the store you bought it from will fix it for you or give a replacement if they can't fix it, but you have to return it to the store in the first instance.

Good luck with getting it sorted out anyway.

Laurie.

Lets be optimistic and move forward ;)

Are you still installed and registered on that computer?
Where are you now with getting up and running fully with IG Pro

All I have done on here is to Install IG Pro and register it, nothing else before the machine went.

Using the computer which crashed way back in January. It crashed again after not working really well since we bought it. Since I was able to drive I took it in and insisted they had a look at it. There was a component with a loose wire which if the computer was moved stopped connecting and so the machine crashed. Move the machine again and it worked. So the first time taking the thing in to the shop on the bus, was obviously enough to get it working and they did not check all the components. They replaced it free of charge and it has worked properly since (another bow to Hubris).
Everything which was on the old machine transferred to this one, no trouble via a 1TB external harddrive. There is a facility in W& for moving stuff from one achine to another, but don't ask me how I did it 'cos I didn't. The advantage of very computer literate grandsons.

Toby is currently making a start to backups to an external drive on his own steam.
More about that in another thread.
Glad you are up and running with it Eric

W7 has a back up facility which is very simple to use and has a facility to schedule a backup so you do not have to remember, unless of course like us you do not plug the External Drive in until you want to back up.
