Plants respond to your feelings and thoughts
« on: November 28, 2009, 01:57:18 PM »
I am sure you greenies know that plants have thoughts and feelings and
can read your thoughts.

One FBI/CIA lie specialist chance upon detecting
the feelings of plant on his polygraph machine.
His name is Cleve Backster.  I read about it in
The Secret Life of Plants by Peter Tompkins and
Christopher Bird.

Now I find it spooky to give my philodendron their
mani/pedi cuz they feel the pain too.

There are many such stories of communication, one  such :

Friend of mine said her grandpa tended to his garden
after retirement.  Had beautiful roses every Spring, covering the
the whole wall.  The year the grandpa was hospitalized and died,
the rose plant die too.  The family member do care for it , but
cannot revived it.  :(

Quoting from thje same book:
Quote
He said the plants can also go into a "faint" situation - pretend to be motionless when a plant hater comes along..  but when a plant lover comes near, the plant will react.  These are readable on the graphs.

Fascinating topic this one Jessie. I've read somewhere (maybe in 'The Secret Life of Plants which I read over one Christmas in the mid 70's as I remember - couldn't put it down) that Russian investigation proved that roses perceptibly (by sensitive measuring equipment I believe) move away from secateurs before they are cut. That of course pushes some towards the dilemma of 'to prune or not to prune'. Maybe someone has an answer to that one!
Further to their reactions to violence I seem to remember that they've been used in murder investigations (reaction to the murderer and not to others) and it seems the US navy have used plants in some context as radio wave receivers (rubber plants I think) because they are more sensitive than man made equipment.
