Flower Genie comes with an empty database.
Its for you to personalise, by adding only the plants you grow, plan to buy, grow from seed etc.
To help you build up your own personal database, we have merged the 1000’s of plants grown by users of our
software to produce The Master Database. Lots of plants, lots of Garden Photos, organised in a logical structure. You can save time by browsing the Master Database using Flower Genie, and copying plants wich
take your fancy to your own database.
At time of preparation of this document, there are more than 9200 plants in the database, and 1000’s more to be added. The plants are from members in the UK, Belgium
and USA (mostly WA), and suitable for a range of Hardiness Zones.
The database is still in draft stage, and its meant to be a resource to be shared by users of our software.
The Master Database is also
a Plant Finder. Plants can be linked to participating Nurseries and Seed Suppliers, You’ll click a hyperlink to go directly to the BUY page on the appropriate web site.
When you see a plant you like, you can
copy it from the CD, into your personal Flower Genie database on your computer. If the plant has a photo, that is also copied for you AND it is automatically linked to what has now become your new plant.
Heres a few tips on how to get the most from this resource.

The Plant is added to your personal Flower Genie database on hard disc Since photos in the database are originals, good-to-high quality, and contributed by many sources, we have decided to protect owner
copyright by embedding the Photos in the Master Database, rather than to supply the photos as image files. Thus, photos are NOT copied to your database in the Copy a Plant process..
